We all have it – that kink in the neck that makes us wince each time we check our blind spot.  If you’re like the rest of us, you’ll likely take some ibuprofen, put some heat, and hope that it goes away.

But usually it doesn’t. It lingers and lingers and keeps nagging and nagging. It isn’t horrible, but it isn’t going away.

So we’ve put together 3 exercises you may not know about to help treat the Stiff Neck Blues:

See them here:

  1. Get your mid back moving! – Often, the neck is subjected to way too much motion because the mid back isn’t moving at all. Do this simple exercise to get the mid back moving better and prepare to be amazed that your neck feels better. (Make sure you use your hands to support the neck – and don’t tip your chair over!).
  2.  Breathe through your belly. Too much stress and sitting can lead to a breathing pattern dysfunction that only uses our upper chest. These muscles also help the neck move. If they are busy breathing, they get tight, and stiff, giving us neck pain. A couple belly breaths each day can help the neck move a lot better.
  3. Blow up a balloon. Seriously Blow one up. Along the same reasons why you need to breathe through your belly, blowing up a balloon helps decrease the muscle tone of those pesky inhalers. It sounds funny, makes you laugh and WORKS. Don’t believe me? Try it out yourself!
